136  mile Cycle Ride

'On yer bike Fibro'

Follow Gary's route

Gary arrived at Roker Beach fulfilling his lifelong dream of riding the coast to coast - 137 miles in just short of 15 hours.

Watch his arrival at the finishing line here:

pologies for the continuing technical issues (volunteer technical adviser needed).

Gary has arrived in Consett.  Estimated time of arrival at Roker Beach is 8 pm - keep watching, we will try to bring you more updates.

Last comment from Gary after being asked how he was feeling - "Very well considering...legs don’t like hills but refuse to stop turning".

We have had no updates since about 2:15 pm.  Estimated time of arrival at Roker Beach is 8:00 - 8:15 pm.  We hope to bring you more info then.

Gary's last comment was 'tough going' as they arrived at Nenthead.  Keep following for more updates.

Donations still welcome -

Gary Coward is undertaking a 130 mile bike ride - Fibromyalgia Awareness.

Please sponsor him and show your support and thanks.

Out to cycle from Whitehaven to Sunderland in a day (14th July)....seemed like a sensible progression from 100 miles....

A ride that takes in around 130 miles from coast to coast through the Lake District and over the North Pennines climbing the equivalent of Ben Nevis 3 times....🤔

"Through life we experience many changes and for me this ride is an opportunity to raise awareness of a condition that has touched both friends and family....Fibromyalgia.

A neurological condition affecting 1 in 20 people where nerve signals produced in the brain are either inappropriate or absent causing a wide variety of symptoms in the body including five times the pain of a non sufferer.

As a condition there is no current cure and limited research. My own experience has been of limited professional guidance on what the condition is and how to live with it."

For this ride I will be raising funds for:

Fibro Flare Awareness Group (Charity Registration No. 1170884)

A local group connected to FFAG have supported us accept/understand/adapt to the condition to minimise its impact. As a charity they are committed to doing all that they are able to change the misconceptions and stigma associated with FM/ME/CF (SEID), as well as raising funds to enable bio medical research to be carried out to ascertain the cause of these diseases which would hopefully lead to a cure.
